Aura Starfire - Profile

Full name - Aurora Crystal Starfire.

Usually known as - Called Aurora by her parents and nicknamed 'sparky' by her brother, Kharis, but by most people she knows is called Aura.

Physical description - Aura is a grey furred vulpine (fox) with mid-length purple hair, black-tipped ears and green eyes. As an adult she stands at 5'4", slightly below the avarage height for a female of her species, but as a child was very short for her age because she was born a month premature, only catching up to her peers as an adolescant. When she wears her hair down, Aura's front grey bangs are not visible, and she has one strand of lavender hair hanging over the right side of her face.

Clothing preference - Aura is not one to follow current fashions and prefers casual clothing - namely t-shirts and jumpers, trousers and trainers/boots. Though she prefers not to wear 'feminine' clothes, Aura will wear dresses and skirts for suitable occasions.

Hobbies/interests - Travelling, reading, writing in her journal, photography, meditation, practicing her powers.

Birthdate - 22nd day of the 1st month in the year 2588.

Birthplace - Green Hill, a small village to the north of South Island - thus called because it lies off the coast to the south of Elhannon, the continent of the Mainland it shares trading links with. South Island trades in Apeligi - a particular type of fruit that only grows on the island - which is their only link with the Mainland since there is no tourism and migration permits are rarely granted, other than the link the Mayor of South Island shares with the Elhannon Regional Council.

Family - Her father was Alex Starfire, a shopkeeper and her mother was Sapphire Starfire (nee Miles), an a elementary school teacher. Both died in 2593 during Ivo Robotnik's attacks on South Island. Her brother, Kharis Starfire, who raised Aura after their parents died, was himself killed in 2597 when the Mettalix attacked Azure City.





Personality:

Many on meeting Aura for the first time would describe her as shy, because she doesn't like to draw attention to herself, but this is because as a traveller, often in places that might be hazerdous if she did, she has had to be. Those who know her would instead describe her as quiet and reserved, an observer rather than an active participant and though she was more outgoing before her parents' death, she has always been this way. Her brother's desire to keep her safe by rarely letting her out of his sight was tolerated by Aura because she was afraid to lose the only family she had left, but after his death became more confident and independent - lasting consequences of this have left Aura with a dislike of anybody attempting to control her and is linked to her intense dislike of authority figures.

However, that isn't to say that Aura is not happy - in a way she has two 'sides' - though neither are distinguishable by anybody but those who know her well. Most of the time she is happy and will smile and laugh at things which amuse her, but when she is bothered by something she will put up a barrier and avoid questions by simply ignoring them or changing the subject - but ironically will encourage other people to talk about their own problems, which can aggrivate people.

Fears:

Aura is afraid of people leaving her, which keeps her constantly travelling in the hopes that she will never face that with any of the people she meets by not knowing what happens to them, though this is not an actual phobia. Aura does have a phobia of fire, which began after being inside her home when it caught on fire during the attack by Ivo Robotnik, leaving her with not only a fear of fire but a strong dislike of hot weather. While her brother, not wanting to cause her any more pain, didn't try to force her to confront it, this had the consequence of causing Aura problems during the early years of her travels, namely in keeping warm and though Aura has managed to curb her fear enough to use a campfire and get close to great sources of heat she would still be rendered catatonic if thrust into direct contact - i.e. being trapped in a fire.



Teleporting

Aura's oldest ability, discovered when she unknowingly teleported away from Mobius after her brother's death. It is a 'willed' action that must be concentrated on to work, since casually thinking to go somewhere wouldn't work. It can be both 'dimensional' and 'distance' (i.e. over a planet) though the former takes much more of Aura's strength than the latter - in the first years of her travels dimensional teleportation would render her unconscious on arrival, whereas later she is able to stay awake for almost an hour before collapsing. In either case she will sleep for anything from twelve to twenty-four hours and wake up with her powers fully restored, if woken earlier she will be able to function, but not at full strength. Distance teleportion, on the other hand, does not render her unconscious but will see her unable to use any of her powers for several hours.

Lightning

The next ability Aura discovered sometime after the age of ten, when she left the family on Earth she had been staying with, but before the age of twelve, when 'The Future's Past' takes place (though Aura is not sure of her exact age at that point, so it could be a half year either side). Aura refers to it as her lightning or electrical ability because of the way she uses it, but to be more exact it is a form of energy manipulation. The uses of it are varied - producing a weak electrical field around her body to deter people from holding her, a direct current (i.e. lightning bolts) from her hands, disabling electronic machinery, rendering a person unconscious and producing a small 'light ball' to entertain or see by. She is able to recharge it by absorbing any type of energy, though those with a connection to electricity (since her ability is caused by the cells in her body being able to store more electrical energy than normal) will be more effective and less painful. She can also absorb energy from the chaos emeralds, though this poses a danger as the emeralds will then try to take her energy instead (as in 'The Future's Past) While this ability has saved Aura on many occasions, as it will often be useable when her teleportation has not yet fully recharged, it does have restrictions - her hands are the conduit and must be free for it to be used effectively and if covered by a material that doesn't conduct electricity she will not be able to use it at all, the same if they are submerged in water.

Fire

The last ability Aura has discovered. So far Aura is able to make small flames appear from her hands for a few seconds - any further progress obstructed because of Aura's refusal to develop it further due to her phobia.

Most Mobians only possess one chaos ability, though occasionally there have been cases of two. Three has almost never been heard of, leaving Aura with the possibility that her teleportation and lightning abilities were engineered by an outside force, presuming her fire ability to be the only true chaos ability since it developed during puberty, as almost all chaos abilities do.



Childhood

Aura was born in Green Hill, South Island on the 22nd day of the 1st month, 2588. Her parents - Alex and Sapphire Starfire - already had a son, Kharis, who was by then almost eighteen years old and had lost three other children in the early to mid-stages of pregnancy due to an undiagnosed health condition which was discovered and treated when Sapphire discovered she was pregnant ten years after losing their last baby. Born a month premature, Aura would be short for her age, but progress through all the usual milestones at a normal rate.

A quiet but cheerful child, Aura loved her parents and idolised her big brother, who was then travelling around the Mainland after being one of the few granted a travelling permit in exchange for gathering information on chaos research from various labratories in Elhannon. She started school in the autumn of 2593, but left when her parents died in the attack by Ivo Robotnik on South Island in the winter of that same year. Her brother, Kharis, who had been away on the Mainland during the attack and subsequent occupation (which was kept secret from the Mainland) returned to find his parents dead and his little sister confused and afraid. He took her away from South Island, moving to the Mainland where he fought with social services to keep her, then decided not to re-enroll her in school until the autumn of 2594, when they settled down in Azure City.

Instead, for those eight months, he took her travelling around the Mainland, not knowing that this would help prepare Aura for the next stage in her life. He was caught between wanting to keep her safe and wanting her to have fun, protecting her but at the same time teaching her how to survive in the wilderness.

Aura began school again in the autumn of 2594, repeating the year she had missed, thus making her a year older than her classmates, though she was at that point still six years old, having started school at five because she would turn six in that school year. She completed her first and second year, but was only months away from completing her third year when the Mettalix attacked South Island and her brother died protecting her.


Dimensional Travels

Running away from the Mettalix after Kharis had been killed, Aura unknowingly tapped into her teleportation ability and left Mobius. She would wander through a forest looking for somebody to help before realising she was on another planet - able to realise this by a conversation with her brother who revealed that Ovi Kintobor - who had become Ivo Robotnik - had come from another planet and dimension.

After finding herself on Earth - one of many versions she would travel to - Aura would be captured by a military organisation, but escape when there was a power cut (which she would later discover was not as coincidental as she thought) and hitch a ride on a passing truck, the driver, of course, unaware. Tired and ill, she would find herself collapsing in the bushes bordering a school and be discovered by Christopher Thorndyke, who convinced his grandfather that they should help her. Aura recovered to find herself being cared for by Christopher's family, who helped her to learn English and gave her a place to stay. Aura stayed for a year and would have remained longer, but the realisation that her ability allowed her to travel in ways her brother could never have imagined, coupled with her fear of losing people and lack of freedom (being confined to the home and occasional trips out heavily disguised) saw her leave just over a year later.

Aura would continue to travel until the age of nineteen - meeting various people that she would later learn were seen as fictional characters in other dimensions, such as Captain Kirk and the crew of the Enterprise, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, and would travel with the Eighth Doctor for almost a year. She would find herself in danger many times and though she would try to avoid it, she would cultivate a strong disregard for her own safety, but somehow manage to make it through with her sanity and body intact.

The effects of her travels on Aura would make her fiercely independent, an close observer of what was going on around her, a strong dislike for authority figures and a tendency to rely upon her abilities to get out of difficult situations.

Aura had also vowed never to return to her Mobius, though she would end up going back on two seperate occasions - once during 'The Future's Past' - aurora-cs-chronicles.deviantar… -to the year before she would be born - and again when travelling with the Doctor, though on that occasion she didn't actually step foot outside the TARDIS. Aura would visit several other versions of Mobius - and on the last would find herself helping a group of heroes on a world where their Robotnik had been defeated, making Aura realise that she could help her own Mobius with her abilities.


Return to Mobius

Aura returned to Mobius at the age of nineteen, but found herself back there just seven months after she had left, causing her to create a story of being captured and experimented on by the Mettalix to account for her rapid increase in age, which though impossible sounding was backed up by genetic comparison and a more believable story than being able to teleport to other dimensions.

She would join the freedom fighters and help to bring down Robotnik, promising herself that when that had happened, she would leave again, but by that time she had met Shen Long. He would admire her need to independence, but allow Aura to also enjoy being close to another person and understand her fears about loss, vowing that though he could - and would not - promise her forever, he would promise to give her as long as they had

They would marry and have five children, Alexis would be the oldest, then Jonathon, four years younger and the triplets, Karis, Ashley and Karinka, nine years younger than Jonathon. Aura would delve into writing, having kept a journal for her travels, but would end up becoming a freelance photographer.





Before she left the alternate Mobius and returned to her own, Aura adopted a chao called Ryndar. He is grey with green eyes, two lines of lavender zig-zag stripes on his tail, two lavender markings either side of the face, three bangs and large pointed ears.
